I don’t know much about most things. However, I’ve spent a lot of time thinking, researching, and writing about bitcoin.

Why? I believe it’s one of the most powerful tools enabling the propagation of truth, goodness, and beauty. It’s capable of adjusting the fundamental incentives within society—reorienting people away from the vices of instant gratification, and toward the sacrificial virtues that build a better future. I can attest to this myself.

My area of focus is on-chain custody. I treat bitcoin as a long-term savings vehicle, not a payments tool, and recommend the following security practices:

  • Focus on bitcoin and avoid altcoins (alternative cryptocurrencies)

  • Remove any meaningful bitcoin from exchange accounts

  • Do not keep any bitcoin accessible from your phone, nor from your home

  • Require multiple geographically-separated keys in order to access bitcoin

  • Utilize secure institutions (safe deposit boxes, key agents) without giving up sovereign control

  • Take ongoing steps to upgrade your privacy, security systems and self-defense

I teach people how to succeed in these strategies using multisignature technology at Unchained, the leading American bitcoin-native financial services company, where I’m honored to serve as a director of education.
